Congratulations to Coshocton Port authority for receiving their second Abandoned Gas Station (AGS) Grant for site cleanup and remediation of the Former Layland General Store site in Killbuck, Ohio!
The Coshocton Port Authority was first awarded an AGS Fast Track Grant of $100,000 for assessment and corrective action on July 24, 2017. Assessment and corrective action activities included an asbestos survey, demolition of site features, underground storage tank removal, and installation of monitoring wells on the property. BJAAM professionals collected soil and groundwater samples, and results indicated chemicals of concern above the Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations action levels.
The site was awarded an AGS Cleanup and Remediation Grant of on May 6, 2019. The short-term redevelopment plan for this site includes expanding the surrounding green space for community recreation, while additional opportunities for the rural Appalachian neighborhood are identified.
